In the heart of Paris and with Paris at its beating heart, Apicius, situated on an historic estate in the middle of the city, is a beautiful enigma. Breathing new life into this historic 18th century limestone mansion, Apicius exudes a glimpse of a past era while showcasing the perfect example of what French food is. Named after the Roman who wrote the first ever culinary book in the times of antiquity, the Michelin-starred restaurant is now helmed by the intrepid Chef Mathieu Pacaud.
Giving new meaning to the term ‘urban jungle,’ stepping into its tumbling garden is like stumbling across a rare gem given its central location on Paris’ 8th arrondissement. Set menus, presented in three or six courses for lunch and dinner, feature blue lobster from the Iles Chausey, pigeon de la Guerche on a bed of roses accompanied by balsamic whipped beets, and delicate white cod over a gauzy glaze of curried pumpkin purée. The chocolate soufflé served with bourbon vanilla ice cream and crème chantilly is criminally rich. High gastronomy, authentic French techniques and a reverence for local produce, Apicius is the epitome of French savoir-vivre.
